Clinical Supervision
Clinical supervision for graduate students, interns, and early-career clinicians who want a reflective space to strengthen their skills, judgment, and confidence in practice.
Availability, fit, regulatory requirements, and supervision structure are discussed during an initial inquiry.
Support for developing clinicians
Clinical work asks a great deal of practitioners. It requires knowledge, presence, self-awareness, ethical judgment, and the ability to remain curious when there is no simple answer. Supervision offers a dedicated space to slow down, think carefully, and continue developing your professional practice.
Dr. Chris Carreira provides clinical supervision that combines evidence-informed thinking with a relational, ethical, and reflective approach. The work is shaped around the supervisee’s learning needs, client population, stage of training, and professional goals.

A reflective and practical approach
Effective supervision is more than reviewing cases. It creates space to examine clinical reasoning, therapeutic relationships, emotional responses, ethical responsibilities, and the practical decisions that shape care.
Connect clinical decisions to sound conceptual thinking, relevant research, and the realities of the client’s situation.
Consider the therapeutic relationship, alliance, rupture and repair, and the ways your own responses may shape the work.
Explore questions of scope, consent, boundaries, documentation, risk, and responsible decision-making.
What supervision can explore
Supervision is tailored to the supervisee and may include a range of clinical, ethical, relational, and professional-development topics.
Clarify what may be happening for a client and develop a thoughtful, flexible treatment direction.
Consider practical interventions, pacing, therapeutic goals, and how to adapt care as the work evolves.
Reflect on alliance, engagement, resistance, ruptures, endings, and the human dynamics of therapy.
Develop greater clarity around your values, strengths, confidence, and evolving clinical voice.
Starting the conversation
A first conversation is an opportunity to discuss your training background, clinical interests, current work, supervision needs, professional goals, and any requirements you need to consider.
It is also the time to clarify practical details such as format, frequency, availability, fees, documentation expectations, and whether the supervisory relationship is a good fit for both parties.
